Repairs Cafés in figures
The ecological, social and political impacts of the 224 Repair Cafés in Brussels and Wallonia are numerous and considerable.
Each Repair Café can encode data on repairs carried out during their events. The data from our network since the start of collecting in 2020 is becoming more and more extensive as time goes by:
226
Repair Cafés
19921
repaired objects
738096 kg
of CO2 prevented
91276 kg
of waste prevented
Data collection at the Repair Cafés
Many objects and people pass through the Repair Cafés. Repair Together wants to expand the collection of information about repairs and volunteering in its network.
To this end, Repair Together has partnered up with The Restart Project that collects statistics from the Repair Cafés and shares them to the Open Repair Alliance. Our association is also active in the Sharepair project which aims to develop repair-related databases.
What does the collection of repair data enable ?
Thanks to the data encoded by Repair Cafés, Repair Together publishes an annual estimate for the entire network. For the year 2023 :
203
Repair Cafés
35000
repaired objects
2000 tonnes
of CO2 prevented
218 tonnes
of waste prevented
The scope of social ties
The Repair Cafés network in Wallonia and Brussels will have more than 3200 volunteers by 2023. Thanks to the growing number of Repair Cafés, the number of volunteers, visitors and partnerships continues to grow. Many volunteers travel long distances to work in several Repair Cafés, to enjoy the different atmospheres, and to donate their skills.
Thanks to our active field representatives, we're regularly seeing how the exchanges and anecdotes are going, and the number of cafés shared is growing too!
