Repair Together offers assistance tailored to the realities of your primary or secondary school, in general, technical or vocational education. Are you interested in setting up a Repair Café in your school? Would you like to involve your students in its creation, but aren't sure where to start? We're here to help and offer our expertise!

Repair Together offers a support program subsidized by Bruxelles Environnement. This offer is aimed primarily at professional and technical secondary schools, but we are also open to the participation of students and teachers from general schools. You'll get a team of at least two teachers and a group of students involved in a Repair Café initiative in your image.

Registration for 2024-2025 is open until June 14, 2024 !

Your school will benefit from our support for one school year:

1/ Awareness-raising activities and practical workshops

Why repair ?

Choose 1 activity from :

1/ context

"The word grid": repair vocabulary
The "kim vue": useful repair tools and accessories (basic, 1h in class)

2/ linked to geography, chemistry and citizenship courses

"In the belly of my smartphone": components, metals, carbon impact, social issues and life cycle (1h-2h in class).
"From a linear economy to a circular economy: thinking together about the transition": the 5Rs principle (1h30 in class).
"Programmed obsolescence": demystification of the subject, quiz with concrete examples (problems and possible solutions) (large group, 1h-1h30).

How to repair ?

2/ Repair Lab tour

3/ The Repair Café

The project team (including teachers and students, to be set before the end of the first term) is responsible for setting up the Repair Café in their school: organizing the event, finding volunteers, tools and talents...

You'll receive a (digital) "starter kit" for setting up the Repair Café, and you'll define the framework of the project with your support staff (activities, type of Repair Café desired, etc.). Repair Together will support you every step of the way and help you communicate about the event.

On D-Day, the accompanying staff member is on hand to launch the Repair Café in your school, and the journey ends with a debriefing and reflection on the sustainability of the project.

At your school:

Meeting with the teachers involved and shaping the project team
Discussions with the project team: objective and type of support
To initiate the project: 2 workshops with students
Support for the launch of your first Repair Café

With other schools involved:

Launch day (August 22, 2024).
Possibility of financial support for materials needed for the project. Information will be provided by Bxl-environnement at the start of the project.
